Starting therapy—or returning to it—often comes with an unexpected question:
“What kind of support do I actually need right now?”

Many people assume there’s only one “right” way to heal. In reality, different therapeutic formats serve different needs, nervous system states, and life circumstances. Choosing the right approach isn’t about doing more or faster work—it’s about finding the kind of support that best matches where you are.
At Mind Body Healing Collective, we offer several trauma-informed options, including weekly therapy, therapy intensives, and healing workshops. This guide is designed to help you understand the differences and decide what may be the best fit for you.

Weekly Therapy Is Often Best If…
Weekly therapy provides consistent, ongoing support over time. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly or biweekly and allow space for gradual processing, relationship-building, and nervous system regulation.
Weekly therapy may be the right fit if you:
- Want steady, predictable support
- Are working through trauma, anxiety, grief, or life transitions at a manageable pace
- Benefit from building trust and safety slowly in the therapeutic relationship
- Need flexibility to integrate therapy alongside work, parenting, or caregiving
- Are interested in approaches such as trauma-informed talk therapy, EMDR, or somatic therapy over time
For many people, weekly or biweekly therapy becomes a grounding anchor—a place to reflect, process, and build coping tools without feeling rushed.
The frequency of sessions is often collaborative and may shift over time based on your needs, capacity, and goals.

Therapy Intensives May Be a Better Fit If…
Therapy intensives offer focused, extended sessions over a shorter period of time. Rather than meeting weekly, intensives allow for deeper immersion in therapeutic work when life circumstances or emotional readiness call for it.
Intensives may be helpful if you:
- Feel “stuck” despite ongoing therapy
- Want to address a specific trauma, pattern, or transition more deeply
- Have limited availability for weekly sessions
- Are preparing for or recovering from a major life event
- Prefer concentrated therapeutic work with built-in integration support
Intensives are not about pushing through trauma quickly. Instead, they offer the opportunity to slow down and take the time needed to explore patterns, experiences, or transitions more deeply than is often possible in a standard 50-minute session. These carefully structured, trauma-informed experiences prioritize safety, regulation, and integration throughout the process.

Trauma-Informed Workshops Can Be Supportive If…
Workshops provide structured, educational, and experiential support—often in a group setting. They can be a powerful entry point into healing or a meaningful complement to individual therapy.
Workshops may be a good fit if you:
- Want to learn about trauma, the nervous system, or somatic healing in a supportive environment
- Are curious about healing work but not ready for individual therapy
- Benefit from community connection and shared experiences
- Are seeking tools for regulation, embodiment, or self-awareness
- Want to supplement existing therapy with experiential practices
Workshops are not a replacement for therapy when individual clinical support is needed, but they can be an accessible and empowering part of a healing journey. See what a trauma-informed workshop can look like.
There Is No “One-Size-Fits-All” Path
It’s common—and completely valid—for people to move between different forms of support over time. Some clients begin with weekly therapy, later choose an intensive, and continue their growth through workshops. Others start with a workshop and decide to pursue individual therapy afterward.
Healing is not linear, and your needs may change as your nervous system, life circumstances, and capacity evolve.
When You’re Not Sure Where to Start
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or unsure which option fits best, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
A trauma-informed provider can help you:
- Clarify your goals and readiness
- Consider nervous system safety and pacing
- Decide whether weekly therapy, an intensive, or a workshop aligns with your current needs
At Mind Body Healing Collective, our team is committed to helping clients choose support that feels appropriate, ethical, and sustainable—not overwhelming.
A Gentle Reminder
The “right” choice is the one that supports your well-being right now. Healing does not require urgency or intensity to be meaningful. It requires safety, attunement, and support that meets you where you are. If you’d like help exploring your options, we invite you to reach out and start a conversation.
