Grief and Loss
Therapy for Grief and Loss
At some point in our lives, each of us will experience a loss that is accompanied by grief. While grief is a natural process, it can often be dismissed when others don’t view our loss as “valid.” It can become compounded if we experience several losses simultaneously. Grief can be traumatic when the loss we experience is unexpected or not peaceful.
While death is the most common association with grief, we can also experience grief when we have other losses, such as:
- Divorce/ Separation/ Ending a friendship
- Loss of our health
- New phase of life, such as retirement or becoming an “empty nester”
- Surviving abuse
- Surviving natural disasters
We live in a society that still has stigma around seeking support, which can make us feel even more isolated during a vulnerable time in our lives. Please know that your grief is a sacred process in therapy. You don’t have to suffer alone and we are here if you would like us to walk this journey with you.
