Joey Rea, LAMFT
A relational approach integrating mind-body and attachment-based work to build insight and implement meaningful change for you, your nervous system, and your relationships.
Who this work is best suited for
- You understand your patterns, but still find yourself reacting in ways that don’t reflect who you want to be.
- You often appear like you have everything together, while quietly carrying anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion.
- You find yourself repeating the same relationship dynamics and wonder why they keep showing up.
- You’ve spent so much energy caring for others, meeting expectations, or simply surviving that you’ve lost connection with your own needs, voice, or sense of self.
- You’ve been to therapy before and gained valuable insight, but you’re longing for healing that goes beyond understanding—you want your mind and body to experience something different.
- You’re ready to approach your story with curiosity rather than criticism, and you’re looking for a space where you can reconnect with your authentic self and create lasting change.
If you saw yourself in these words, know that you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Healing is possible, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
Hi, I’m Joey Rea.
You don’t have to navigate life’s hardest seasons alone.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, disconnected from yourself, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or carrying the weight of experiences that continue to shape you, your relationships, and your life, therapy can be a place to slow down, reconnect, and begin healing.
I believe every person has the capacity for growth when they’re given a space where they feel safe, understood, and accepted. My goal is to create that space for you—a place where you don’t have to perform, have all the answers, or carry everything on your own.
As a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with adults and couples who are ready to better understand themselves, heal from the past, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Together, we’ll explore not only what you’re experiencing, but also why these patterns developed and how they can begin to change through understanding and somatic awareness.
How I Approach Therapy
Healing isn’t about fixing what’s wrong with you. It’s about understanding how your mind, body, and relationships adapted to help you make it through.
I take a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that honors your unique story while helping you build practical tools for lasting change. My work integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, somatic practices, attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and family systems therapy to support healing on both emotional and physiological levels.
Rather than simply talking about your experiences, we’ll gently explore how they continue to live in your nervous system, your relationships, and your perception of self. As we build awareness together, you’ll begin to experience greater clarity, self-compassion, resilience, connection, and reconnection.
I believe meaningful healing happens when insight is paired with felt experience; when your mind begins to understand your story and your body begins to believe that you’re safe enough to live differently – fully present and embodied.
A Bit More About Me
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll often find me hiking Arizona trails, running outdoors, journaling, making sourdough, or spending time with the people I love. Being in nature reminds me that growth doesn’t happen overnight. Healing and resilience, much like the desert after rain, often unfold gradually through patience, care, and the right conditions.
That perspective shapes the way I approach therapy. I believe lasting change isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about reconnecting with the person you’ve always been, beneath survival, stress, and outdated protective patterns.
Working with Joey
Clients often describe my style as warm, collaborative, and genuine.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and my role is to offer curiosity, guidance, and support as we make sense of your experiences together.
I strive to balance compassion with thoughtful challenges, helping you recognize patterns that may no longer serve you while celebrating the strengths that have carried you this far.
Wherever you’re beginning, we’ll move at a pace that feels respectful of your nervous system and your goals.
Common Reasons People Reach Out…If You’re Seeking…
…a place where you don’t have to have everything figured out…
…a therapist who understands the connection between your mind, body, and relationships…
…support in healing from past experiences instead of simply managing symptoms…
…or a space where you can reconnect with your authentic self and build healthier relationships…
I would be honored to walk alongside you.
Reaching out for therapy is a courageous first step, and you don’t have to take it alone. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you as you move toward a life that feels more connected, grounded, and aligned with who you truly are.
