Breathwork for Trauma Healing
Somatic Breathwork and Trauma-Informed Breathwork Workshops
in Scottsdale, AZ and Online
Breathwork is a powerful, body-centered approach that helps regulate your nervous system, process emotions safely, and rebuild connection with yourself after trauma.
At Mind Body Healing Collective, we offer trauma-informed breathwork in Scottsdale, AZ and online — designed to meet you where you are, without pressure or performance.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or ready to reconnect, our somatic breathwork sessions support deep, sustainable healing at your pace.
What Is Trauma-Informed Breathwork?
What Is Breathwork?
Breathwork uses intentional breathing patterns to calm the nervous system, support emotional processing, and restore a sense of inner steadiness. This is not about forcing big emotional releases — it’s about safety, pacing, and presence.
How Breathwork Helps the Nervous System:
Our approach is somatic and trauma-informed. We are not just guiding breath. We are attuning to the whole person in front of us. Every session is adapted to support what your system can handle in the moment. No pressure. No performance.
Our breathwork model is deeply influenced by Somatic Experiencing®, a body-based trauma therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine. This approach helps us track the nervous system in real time, guide breathwork at a sustainable pace, and support integration with care. Whether you’re new to somatic work or have already explored nervous system healing through breathwork or therapy, this work meets you where you are with both structure and softness.
you’re in the right place.
Why Somatic + Trauma-Informed Breathwork Matters
Not all breathwork is created equal. Some styles push the nervous system into overwhelm. That’s not our approach.
In trauma-informed breathwork, we prioritize:
- Safety over intensity
- Integration over release
- Choice over performance
- Support over stimulation
This work helps your body process at its own pace. You stay connected, grounded, and in control.
Still wondering why this matters?
For many people, especially those with trauma, too much too fast can lead to shutdown. We choose a different path—one that supports healing without overwhelming your system.
“Your breath is your anchor. Come home to it, and come home to yourself.”
What to Expect in a Breathwork Session
Each somatic breathwork session follows a gentle arc that helps your body settle and feel supported before anything else happens.
What Happens in a Session?
Inside a Breathwork Session
What Happens in a Session?
Each somatic breathwork session follows a gentle arc that helps your body settle and feel supported before anything else happens.
You’ll begin with:
- Simple education about how your breath and nervous system interact
- Gentle grounding or movement to prepare the body
- A guided breathwork journey supported by music and compassionate facilitation
After the breathwork journey, we transition into a quiet space for integration, including:
- A guided meditation to support emotional and nervous system integration
- A quiet period of stillness for personal reflection
- A closing sharing circle where you can speak, listen, or simply witness
There’s no one right way to experience this. You might feel emotion move. You might feel still. You might just feel your breath for the first time in a long while. All of it is welcome.
Your nervous system responds to the room you’re in.

Why Our Approach Is Different
At Mind Body Healing Collective, all breathwork sessions are grounded in Somatic Experiencing®, a body-based trauma healing model that focuses on nervous system regulation and slow, sustainable integration. This foundation allows us to support deep transformation without pushing the body beyond its capacity to process and heal.

Breathwork in Trauma
Therapy Intensives
Deep-dive, immersive healing experiences
Breathwork is available as a powerful component of our trauma therapy intensives. These intensives are for those who are ready to go deeper and want concentrated support in a safe, attuned space. Breathwork is integrated alongside somatic therapy, attachment work, and nervous system regulation to support lasting change.
This immersive model allows us to work on multiple levels—cognitive, emotional, and physiological—while staying attuned to what your body can safely process. Each intensive is customized to support integration and meaningful transformation.
Online Breathwork: Just as Impactful as In-Person
Can Breathwork Work Online?
Yes. Our virtual breathwork sessions and workshops are just as impactful as in-person offerings.
Here’s how we make it work:
- We help you prepare your space ahead of time so you feel safe and supported
- You’ll need a quiet room, a place to lie down, and headphones or speakers
- The experience is fully guided and adapted for the online format
- We stay present and connected with you the entire time
Many clients say they feel even more relaxed doing breathwork from the comfort of home. Virtual sessions allow you to bring the work into your space with full support. You are never navigating it alone.
Not sure if virtual breathwork is right for you? We’re happy to talk through the options.
Is Breathwork Right for You?
Somatic breathwork can be a good fit if you:
- Feel stuck, anxious, or overwhelmed
- Want a more body-based approach to therapy or healing
- Have a history of trauma, medical trauma, or burnout
- Are curious about what your breath can reveal and release
- Want to build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with your body
No experience is necessary. You don’t need to breathe a certain way or show up a certain way. You just need to be open to exploring what’s possible.
Client Experiences + Testimonials
“I recently had the privilege of experiencing a breathwork session with Amy and I can’t recommend her enough. Before we began the session, she took the time to orient me on what to expect, so I felt fully prepared and not surprised when different sensations arose. Throughout the experience, her cues were clear and supportive, guiding me on the specific breaths to take while maintaining a calm, encouraging presence. Her positive feedback helped me stay grounded and motivated, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the process. I truly enjoyed our session and felt a deep sense of connection and release by the end.”
“I recently had the opportunity to attend a trauma-informed breathwork class led by Amy Bjorkman, and it was a deeply transformative experience. Her compassionate and knowledgeable approach created a safe space, allowing me to access conscious change and release held emotions. The class facilitated a profound sense of deep gratitude, helping me reconnect with my inner self in a way I hadn’t anticipated. I left feeling lighter, more centered, and with a renewed sense of clarity.”
“My experience with Amy’s breathwork class was incredible. I’ve always struggled with being present and having constant racing thoughts. By the end of class, they were completely gone, and I felt more present than I ever had. Since then, I’ve felt more calm and at peace. Amy created a very calm and comfortable environment, her instructions were very clear, and she did a great job of guiding and supporting everyone in attendance.”
Amy, Wanted to drop you a note of thanks for your work in creating and facilitating the breath work sessions I’ve been attending. Some profound experiences and insights and timed so well based on the growth I’m being called to in my life. Hope you continue with these in the New Year! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season Best, JC
