Trauma Sensitive Yoga

A Holistic Approach to Trauma Healing

At Mind Body Healing Collective, we recognize the profound impact of trauma on the mind and body. In our commitment to holistic healing, we offer Trauma-Sensitive Yoga—a form of yoga that is specifically designed to be safe and accessible for people who have experienced trauma. It is a gentle and non- threatening way to practice yoga, and it can be a powerful tool for healing and self-care.

Creating a Safe Space

At the core of our approach is the emphasis on safety. Trauma-Sensitive Yoga prioritizes creating a safe and nurturing environment where individuals feel safe to explore their own healing journey. Instructors use verbal cues rather than physical adjustments, while also offering modifications or alternatives to poses. Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace and to listen to their own bodies. Safety is the foundation upon which empowerment and transformation are built.

Choice as Empowerment

Recognizing the importance of agency, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga allows individuals to make choices that resonate with their unique needs and comfort levels. Participants are given the choice to participate in certain poses or activities, and they are encouraged to honor their own boundaries and limitations. This can be especially important for survivors of trauma, who may have had their autonomy taken away from them. The power of choice becomes a catalyst for empowerment, fostering a sense of control and autonomy throughout the healing process.

Embodiment: The Gateway to Trauma Healing & Therapy

Embodiment is key in trauma recovery, and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga facilitates a mindful connection between the body and mind. By encouraging individuals to be present in their bodies, the practice becomes a powerful vehicle for processing and releasing trauma, promoting a harmonious integration of mind and body.

Mindful Movement for Trauma Healing

Incorporating gentle, intentional movements and breath work, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga becomes a medium for processing and releasing stored trauma. It can be especially helpful in regulating the nervous system and reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Expert Guidance and Compassionate Support

Our experienced instructors, trained in trauma-sensitive yoga, provide expert guidance and compassionate support throughout the yoga sessions. Together, you and your instructor create a collaborative space for healing, fostering a sense of trust and security.

At Mind Body Healing Collective, we invite you to experience embodied healing through Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. Prioritizing safety, choice, and the mind-body connection, our approach reflects a commitment to your holistic well-being.
